About the Trans Abuse CrowdMap

This is an interactive, publicly available worldwide map of the abuse and discrimination faced by people who's gender identity and/or presentation does not meet society's expectations based on their presented sex. (together we are "trans people").

This service is Crowd Sourced like Wikipedia. It relies on each of us entering information about what we and our trans friends put up with on a daily bases so that all of our reports can be put together to map out areas where abuse is worst, and what types of abuse are most often faced in a given region.

Even if you feel that telling someone about the abuse you have suffered is pointless, even if you are not bothering to press charges or file a complaint with the police etc., please tell us what happened. If you prefer, you can do so completely anonymously.

PLEASE DO tell any other trans people or trans allies you are in contact with about this web site and ask them to fill out a report any time they feel bullied or abused because of their trans identity. The more data we gather, the more statistically significant the results will be, and the more powerful this site can be in the fight for change.

PLEASE DO NOT make specific statements about individuals in a way that would allow them to be easily identified unless they have been found guilty or publicly admitted to committing the abuse you are describing. Being too specific would open the door to a wide range of excuses to shut this site down, or limit public access to it.

Note:  This site is built on the "Ushahidi" platform. ("Ushahidi" means "testimony" in Swahili.)
